Vietnam opens new school and shelter built with Oregon National Guard

A Texas Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk from the Austin Army Aviation Facility assists in suppressing a wildfire in Bastrop County, Texas. The Texas National Guard mobilized aviation assets from Austin, Grand Prairie and San Antonio to help combat the fire that burned about 4,200 acres and destroyed nearly one dozen homes.

This is the 28th season that the unit has participated in Operation Deep Freeze, the military component of the U.S. Antarctic Program, which is managed by the National Science Foundation.

The Alaska veterans were participants of the Last Frontier Honor Flight, an organization taking them to Washington, D.C., to see for the first time the monuments erected there to honor those who served during those conflicts.
