Guardian Angel pararescuemen from the 129th rescued two fishermen who were severely burned during an onboard diesel fire approximately 700 miles off the coast of Acapulco, Mexico.

Soldiers from the unit recently transported a critically wounded Marine who had live rocket propelled grenade round embedded in his leg. Without the quick thinking of the air crew, the Marine would not have survived.

Ahern was awarded the Silver Star for saving the lives of his injured teammates in Afghanistan in 2009.
