North Dakota National Guard Biathletes Win Regional Competition

Air Force Capt. Eric Nordgren, who serves with the North Dakota Air National Guard, leaves the starting gate during the Central Region Biathlon Competition at Mt. Nordgren won the 12.5-kilometer pursuit race and placed second in the 10-kilometer sprint race, helping to lead the North Dakota National Guard Biathlon Team to its third regional win in three years.

Fifty professionals from across the country and all branches of service from the rank of lieutenant colonel to brigadier general and DoD civilians attended a five-day course designed to provide a broad understanding of homeland protection missions, enabling technologies, architectures and current challenges. The course consisted of technical lectures, tours and hands-on exercises. Each lecture, tour and exercise was given by a leading expert at MIT Lincoln Laboratory.

Due to the extensive amount of clay soil at this site, it was necessary to remove additional soil material to receive compliance. This site at Wright Army Airfield has now been partnered with Liberty County, Ga., as a 'joint-use airfield.'

Bagorio and Combis graduated together from Barber's Point Campus of the Hawaii National Guard's Youth Challenge Academy. The academy is a program that helps misguided youth to become a working part of the community. Bagorio is deployed from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., and Combis is deployed from the Hawaii Air National Guard. Both are natives of the state of Hawaii.
