Oregon Guardsmen bid farewell to longtime bandmaster

Maj. Gen. Raymond F. Rees, the adjutant general of the Oregon National Guard, places an Oregon Distinguished Service Medal around the neck of Chief Warrant Officer 5 James Powell at his retirement ceremony Nov. 3 at the Anderson Readiness Center in Salem, Ore. Powell recieved the award in recognition of his 39 years of military service.

Michael Gerardi check for hazardous materials as they move through a building during lane two of a Joint Collective Training Exercise between the 2nd Civil Support Team, NYARNG (CST) and the 15th CST, VTARNG. The two-day exercise held in St. Johnsbury, Vermont brought together the two teams as well as two augmentees from Rhode Island and members of the St. Johnsbury Fire Department.

Oregon finds partner in South Asia

A delegation from the Oregon National Guard met with key civic and military leaders in Bangladesh Oct. 25-30 to discuss a collaborative partnership between Oregon and the South Asian country. This is the first official partner for Oregon in the U.S. State Department's "State Partnership Program", developed to foster alliances between the United States and foreign countries.
