"This [annual training] will give us a chance to exercise our abilities to support them in the event of a deployment or call up," said Master Sgt. Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich has challenged more than 1,300 other mayors who belong to the U.S. Conference of Mayors to sign an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Statement of Support. Soldiers from 2nd Battalion, 124th Infantry Regiment make their way through a washed out section of roadway while assisting search and rescue teams help citizens trapped in their homes by flood waters caused by Tropical Storm Fay.
