A KC-135 Stratotanker from the 161st Air Refueling Wing returns to Marine Corps Base Hawaii after completing an aerial refueling mission during an exercise Oct. 14, 2022. This multiday flyaway readiness exercise was the first of its kind performed by an Air National Guard air refueling wing focused on the Department of the Air Force’s priority of Agile Combat Employment.

New York Air Guard’s 109th Air Wing Conducts ‘Elephant Walk’

The 109th Airlift Wing conducted the unit’s first 'elephant walk' Sept. 10, 2022. An elephant walk is a U.S. Air Force term for the taxiing of military aircraft in close formation, often employed to project air power through the rapid deployment of multiple aircraft at once.

Michael Loh, director of the Air National Guard, praised the Airmen for their heroic actions flying a C-17 Globemaster military transport aircraft into Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, as Taliban forces took the capital city in August 2021.
