The Idaho Army National Guard’s 1st of the 148th Field Artillery Regiment conducted live-fire training using the M109A6 Paladin and more than 80 high explosive rounds during its annual training at the Orchard Combat Training Center May 12-27, 2022. Training included its first live-fire exercise using the U.S. Army’s modernized M1156 Precision Guidance Kit, a GPS smart fuze attachment that enabled the battalion to convert its existing 155 mm artillery shells into smart weapons and improve target trajectory.
