Wisconsin Air National Guard Tech. Sgt. Robert Garrelts is the first recipient of the Thomas Wortham IV Achievement Award. The award recognizes the citizen contributions of Citizen Soldiers and Airmen. The award's namesake was a Wisconsin Army National Guard officer, Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, and member of the Chicago Police Department who was killed outside his parents' Chicago home when four men attempted to steal his motorcycle. Air Force Maj. Gen. Don Dunbar, the adjutant general of Wisconsin, and Wortham presented the award.

Fishing program offers wounded military troops a safe haven, relaxation

Aaron McNew were recognized as part of the U.S. Army's greatest inventions competition after a panel of combat veteran Soldiers voted them part of the most innovative advances in Army technology.
