Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Intervention at the first signs of trouble and having experts who are available to listen are crucial to helping troubled Soldiers before they ever reach that point, Powell said. "Somebody who's borderline suicidal, the last thing they need to do is be talking to answering machines all day," he said. "All that does is push you over."
