New York rescue teams depart from Stewart Air Guard Base

An SUV belonging to New York Task Force 1, New York City's FEMA sponsored urban search and rescue team is loaded on a C-17 belonging to the 21st Airlift Squadron from Travis Air Force Base California by Airmen of the 105th Airlift Wing's Logistics Squadron early Saturday morning, Jan. 16. The New York Air National Guard's 105th Airlift Wing provided support to the team as they deployed to Port-au-Prince to respond to the Haiti Earthquake.

California ADT hosts animal clinic in Asadabad

A local Afghan veterinarian works with U.S. Army Staff Sgt. John Carter (left), California National Guard's 40th Infantry Division Agribusiness Development Team security forces squad leader from Oakland, Calif., to help vaccinate farm animals near Camp Wright in Asadabad, Afghanistan, Jan. 15. The ADT worked hand-in-hand with village elders and Afghan veterinarians during a Veterinarian Civic Action Program event to administer vaccinations to more than 450 farm animals belonging to more than 100 local farmers. In addition to the vaccinations, local farmers who brought their animals received solar radios, booster packs of medicine to keep their animals healthy and local children were employed to help keep the animals corralled and the holding pens clean.

Ohio Air Guard C-130s deliver first relief teams

Airmen from the 179th Airlift Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard unload supplies Jan. 13 from their C-130 Hercules cargo aircraft. They were the first to land in Port-au-Prince following a devastating magnitude 7.0 earthquake Jan. 12, 2009. Two C-130 aircraft and five air crews from the Mansfield unit are currently supporting relief efforts.
