The Arkansas Guard has about 1,000 troops supporting civil authorities across the state. Several of the Soldiers, many of whom just recently returned from Iraq with the 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, spent their day clearing debris from the roadways in Marmaduke, Ark., with chainsaws and muscle.

A California Air National Guard C-130J Hercules cargo aircraft from the 146th Airlift Wing releases water in a test of a new Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) system in late January. The 146th was the first unit to be approved for use of the new MAFFS II system.

Airmen from nearby Manas Air Base visit the orphanage frequently to share friendship and donated toys, as well as clothing, blankets, diapers and toiletries. There are more than 265 disabled children in the orphanage between the ages of 4 and 18. Bourgeois is a Nevada Air National Guardsman who is deployed with the 376th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron.

The signing over of Camp Ramadi is a step toward coalition forces pulling out and handing complete responsibility and control back over to the Iraqis.

Canadian avaitors are preparing for an upcoming deployment to Afghanistan and partnered with the Rochester-based Company B, 3rd Battalion, 126th Aviation for a two-week training period. The 126th Aviation recently returned from a 10-month deployment flying misions in Afghanistan.
