Cargo aircraft turned rescue platform for astronaut recovery

Hawaii Air National Guard pilots from the 154th Operations Group and 204th Airlift Squadron review mission plans on a C-17 Globemaster III Nov. 13, 2020, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. The Hawaii Air National Guard aircrew was supported by active-duty Airmen from the 15th Wing, who provided logistical and planning support for a contingency rescue operation for NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.

Alaska Air Guard unveils new tail flash on Stratotanker

A KC-135 Stratotanker from the Alaska Air National Guard’s 168th Wing was unveiled showcasing a new tail flash on the wing’s aircraft, Oct. 15, 2020. In collaboration with Tanana Chiefs Conference, the 168th Wing honors interior communities on the wing’s aircraft. The first KC-135 honors Minto and is one of nine aircraft representing Alaska interior communities. The next to be unveiled will honor Gwichyaa Zhee, Grayling, Huslia, Tetlin, Telida, and Tanana. Fairbanks and the North Pole will be displayed on the final two aircraft.

The Airmen have been volunteering at the kitchen since mid-August, preparing an average of 150 meals per week for non-profit organizations.

A new UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter assigned to the New York Army National Guard's 3rd Battalion, 142nd Aviation Regiment, comes in to land at their flight facility in Ronkonkoma, N.Y., Aug. 18, 2020. The UH-60M is the most current version of the Black Hawk and offers more efficient rotor blades, glass cockpit, improved engines, flight controls and aircraft navigation.

Alaska Army Guard helps rescue Iditarod mushers

An Alaska Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter aircrew performed a search-and-rescue mission for three Iditarod mushers about 25 miles east of Nome, March 20, 2020. The mushers and their dogs went through Bering Sea floodwaters on the race trail and were wet and freezing. The mushers were flown to Nome and transported to a hospital.
