Air National Guard director receives Order of the Sword invitation

Air Force Lt. Gen. Stanley E. Clarke, III, director, Air National Guard, is presented the Order of the Sword invitation from Chief Master Sgt. James W. Hotaling, command chief master sergeant of the Air National Guard, at 10 House Fire Department, New York, Nov. 11, 2015. The Air Force enlisted corps established the Order of the Sword to recognize and honor military senior officers for significant contributions to the enlisted force.

Veterans Day message to the force

Members of the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division participated in Anchorage's first-ever Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 7, 2015. More than 50 airmen of the Alaska Air National Guard's 176th Wing joined approximately 200 other military members to represent actively-serving veterans for the celebration.

147th Reconnaissance Wing reaches 100K flight hours on MQ-1 Predator

Army Guard to see reductions, changes in personnel and force structure

A Stryker vehicle from the 56th Stryker Brigade Combat Team passes a gas station north of Vilnius enroute to Rukla. A platoon of soldiers from the 28th Infantry Division unit from Hazleton, Pennsylvania, will spend two weeks training in the Saber Strike 2015 exercise. Saber Strike is a long-standing U.S. Army Europe-led cooperative training exercise. Projected changes to National Guard units will lead to conversion of some, including the 81st Armored Brigade Combat Team, which is slated to transition to a Stryker brigade combat team in 2017.

Gunfighter Fly-in competition kicks off; tests skills of Army Guard AH-64 Apache pilots

Apache AH-64D pilots go through their pre-flight checks at Silverbell Army Heliport before beginning an event during the Gunfighter-Fly In competition Nov. 3, 2015. The Gunfighter Fly-In pits some of the best AH-64D Apache attack helicopter crews from seven different Army National Guard units from across the nation in a competition to see who's best. Crews from Arizona, Utah, Idaho, South Carolina, North Carolina, Texas and Missouri competed for the top scores in various events such as a live-fire scenario, unmanned aerial systems teaming, simulator test and a written evaluation.

Jesse Hernandez, whose civilian job is a custody assistant for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, saved 42 people from a burning bus on a Los Angeles freeway on Oct. 18, 2015. Hernandez is a rifleman with the California Guard's D Company (Weapons), 1st Battalion, 160th Infantry Regiment, out of San Pedro, Calif.

Brent Pearce, of Edmond, Okla., and a member of Company E, 700th Brigade Support Battalion, 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, is awarded the Army Commendation medal for his actions following a deadly accident at the Oklahoma State University homecoming parade in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Oct. 24, 2015. Pearce was one of 45 Soldiers given medals for taking immediate action after a woman crashed through the crowd watching the parade, killing four and injuring more than 40 others. The Soldiers marched in the parade and were preparing to return to their armory when the accident occurred.
