A soldier from the 101st Expeditionary Signal Battalion pulls security in a 360-degree formation with other soldiers from the unit, after the sighting of an improvised explosive device, during a counter-IED training exercise at Camp McGregor, N.M., Thursday afternoon. Soldiers from the 101st are currently going through pre-mobilization training at Camp McGregor prior to a deployment to Afghanistan.

Soldiers with the Mississippi Army National Guard's 890th Engineer Battalion work to alleviate pressure from floodwaters of Hurricane Isaac on the Percy Quinn State Park levee in McComb, Miss. The project will take approximately a week to complete. Officials in Tangipahoa Parish, La. fear that the water from the lake's dam could flow into rivers swollen from the effects of Isaac and flood area homes.

David Harvey, a former Marine and now chaplain with the Rhode Island Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment currently deployed to Camp Buehring, Kuwait, volunteered to provide chaplain services to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 261 (Reinforced), 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, while they conducted sustainment training in Kuwait.

The North Dakota Army National Guard's 817th Engineer Company (Sapper), Jamestown, are working with their Ghanaian partners in an exchange visit during annual training. The Sappers are using crater charges and other explosives. North Dakota and Ghana are linked through the Department of Defense-sponsored State Partnership Program.
