Alaska Army Guard members save four after plane crash
April 15, 2019
A single-engine Piper PA-32 Cherokee Six crash-landed about 35 miles northeast of Bethel, April 11, 2019. Soldiers with the Alaska Army National Guard's 207th Aviation Battalion rescued the four survivors and transported them to Bethel, a coastal community in western Alaska that sits along the Kuskokwim River, inside the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge.

Army Guard missile brigade executes unique mission

A ground-based interceptor missile launched by the Colorado Army National Guard's 100th Missile Defense Brigade heads skyward to intercept an incoming target missile during a training mission at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., in 2008. Based at Schriever Air Force Base, Colo., the brigade is the only unit of its type in the National Guard and has a detachment at Vandenberg and subordinate units at Fort Greely, Alaska.

Sgt. 1st Class Michelle Homer, Sgt. Christina So and Sgt. Gella Johnson receive recognition for saving the life of Sgt. 1st Class Anthony Johnson last summer in a ceremony held March 10, 2019, at Fort Pickett, Va. Johnson collapsed on one of the last days of annual training for the 1710th Transportation Company, 1030th Transportation Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group, and his fellow Soldiers quickly jumped in and administered CPR for approximately six minutes before Johnson regained consciousness.
