Alaska Guardsman receives Bronze Star

Javier Lopez, Alaska National Guard staff judge advocate, received a Bronze Star medal Nov. 19, 2019, on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, for his service in Operation Enduring Freedom from May 2012 to April 2013. The award was presented to Lopez by Brig. Gen. Charles Lee Knowles, commander of the Alaska Army National Guard.

West Virginia Guard engineers complete JROTC obstacle course

McAleavey, 176th comptroller flight budget analyst, is the National Guard Bureau financial management and comptroller noncommissioned officer of the year for fiscal 2018. McAleavey is a native of Eagle River, Alaska, and began his career in the Air National Guard as a C-130 Hercules loadmaster.
