From the ground to the sky: Idaho’s joint fire exercise

The Idaho Army National Guard’s 2nd of the 116th Combined Arms Battalion and the Idaho Air National Guard’s 124th Air Support Operations Squadron and 190th Fighter Squadron joined forces from the ground to the sky in the large-scale joint training event on May 18 and 19, 2021.

Idaho Air Guard sweeps top honors during Hawgsmoke 2021

Idaho National Guard A-10 Thunderbolt II pilots and their crews come home to Boise as the 2021 Hawgsmoke overall team champions. The Hawgsmoke is a biennial aerial competition where approximately 150 Airmen from 13 Air Force units compete to test the bombing, missile and tactical gunnery skills of the pilots and maintainers of the U.S. Air Force A-10C Thunderbolt II aircraft. This year it was held at Moody Air Force Base, Georgia, April 14-17, 2021.

Rescue squadrons train in Idaho exercise

Members from 11 rescue squadrons with HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopters participated in Spud Smoke 21at the Orchard Combat Training Center in Boise, Idaho, March 8-28, 2021.  The exercise focused on the weapons employment fundamentals and dynamic threat environments.

U.S. flag flown over Afghanistan dedicated to tribes

A U.S. flag, in honor of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribe, was presented to the tribe council Nov. 2. This special flag was flown over Afghanistan during the Idaho Air National Guard’s recent Southwest Asia deployment.

Idaho Air National Guard special warfare tactical air control party Airmen from the 124th Air Support Operations Squadron conduct non-combatant evacuation operation training in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, Aug. 12, 2020, with members of the Navy’s Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Four from North Island Naval Air Station, California. The joint training utilized HSC-4’s MH-60S Seahawk helicopters.
