New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing wraps up Antarctic support mission

New York Army National Guard Soldier saves life while on the job as a police officer

This is police officer Arnold Reyes on the job with the Suffolk County Police Department. Reyes is also the command sergeant major of the New York Army National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry. Reyes and others helped bring a woman back to life in December 2015.

Maj. Gen. Anthony German, the commander of the New York Air National Guard, and the Assistant Adjutant General of New York, has been selected as the 53rd adjutant general of New York by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo. He replaces Maj. Gen. Patrick Murphy who will become director of plans, policy, and international affairs for the National Guard Bureau.

A total of seven 109th AW LC-130s are deployed this season and about 330 missions planned through the season, which ended in February. This is the 28th season that the unit has participated in Operation Deep Freeze, the military component of the U.S. Antarctic Program, which is managed by the National Science Foundation.

The newly created SC Cyber consortium will educate businesses, government agencies, and USC students on cyber-security tools, skills, and procedures, with the ultimate goal to enhance South Carolina’s ability to fight cyber threats at all levels of the local government and industry. SC Cyber aims to develop a series of strategically located, cyber-security, hubs across South Carolina.
