Texas Army National Guard members teach combatives course in Djibouti

James Niederhauser and Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Max, both Texas Army National Guard members with Task Force Raptor, 3rd Squadron, 124th Cavalry Regiment, battle it out during clinch drills at a Modern Army Combatives Level-One Instructor Course. The Texas National Guard members hosted the course, March 12-16 at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti.

Scott Rice from the 673rd Civil Engineering Squadron, EOD flight, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, prepares to conduct a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance March 14, 2012. Rice is deployed to the 966th Air Expeditionary Squadron EOD flight who supports Combined Joint Task Force Paladin. EOD members are experts in chemical, biological, incendiary, radiological and nuclear materials and devices. The unit helps ensure freedom of operations in a deployed environment by applying special procedures to totally remove hazards created by unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices.

Todd Glandden, 257th Engineer Team member, shovels foam away from the bore hole of the well site as cuttings shoot out of the bore hole during 24-hour well drilling operations just outside Camp Lemonnier here, March 12, 2012. This project allowed the team to evaluate the water tables in the aquifer and make plans for camp expansion. The well development project directly supports Camp Lemonnier's initiative to identify alternative well locations and assist in development of camp infrastructure.
