More than 100 South Carolina Guard members drill in Poland

Polish F-16 fighter jets from the 32nd Tactical Air Wing leave Łask Air Base, Poland to participate in exercise Eagle Talon, June 16, 2015. U.S. Air Force Airmen from Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany and the South Carolina Air National Guard’s 169th Fighter Wing from McEntire Joint National Guard Base, are deployed to Łask Air Base in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, during the month of June.

Guardsmen from Maryland, Michigan and Pennsylvania came together to support Saber Strike 15 by providing aerial-refueling and close-air-support. Saber Strike 15 is a joint and multinational exercise designed to promote stability in the Baltic area and provide an opportunity for military members to sharpen their skills.

The project was part of an effort to expand housing units for Soldiers assigned to Camp Arifjan. The base has seen its numbers increase with the drawdown in Afghanistan and the beginning of Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq.
