Friends who deploy together stay together

California Army National Guard Capt. Eric Lancaster, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Michael DeCosta, Lt. Col. Nader Araj and Lt. Col. Brian Goldsmith meet up on the airfield at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, Feb. 28. They all live and work in the Folsom community back home in California, and deployed together with the 40th Combat Aviation Brigade.

A 20-kilowatt array of solar panels fitted to Building 36 on Camp Grayling. The solar panel array is one of many green energy initiatives the Michigan Army National Guard is employing to generate renewable energy, reduce pollution and save taxpayers money by reducing energy costs for everyday operations. It is one of many initiatives throughout the National Guard.

109th Airmen call South Pole home as they package old equipment for shipment north

Pallets of  excess and obsolete materials are placed in position outside the National Science Foundation's Amundsen-Scott Station at the South Pole in January 2016. A team of three New York Air National Guard Airmen built 73 pallets in 11 days so the unneeded items can be hauled away later this year.

New York Army National Guard Soldier saves life while on the job as a police officer

This is police officer Arnold Reyes on the job with the Suffolk County Police Department. Reyes is also the command sergeant major of the New York Army National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry. Reyes and others helped bring a woman back to life in December 2015.
