NY Air Guard tests new MQ-9 remote landing and takeoff capability

An MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft lands at Griffiss International Airport in Rome, New York on May 5, 2022 as the 174th Attack Wing of the New York Air National Guard tests a new remote landing and takeoff capability.. This is the first time an MQ-9 flew from one commercial airport, in this case Hancock Field International Airport in Syracuse, to another, the airport in Rome.

NY Guard CH-47 lifts heavy pontoon to stop damage to Niagara Falls

A CH-47 Chinook assigned to the New York Army National Guard’s Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 126th Aviation removes a 3,900-pound steel pontoon from the Niagara River just above the American side of Niagara Falls in Niagara Falls, New York on May 4, 2022. The pontoon, which washed away from an ice dam in 2019, was removed because of concerns that it could go over the falls and damage the “Cave of the Winds”.

First Stratotanker inducted into Air Force museum

Members of the 203rd Air Refueling Squadron and 154th Maintenance Squadron are joined by the deputy director of the Air National Guard and three honorable retirees April 30, 2022, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The retired Airmen were reunited with their KC-135R Stratotanker, numbered 60-0329, which they earned the McKay Trophy aboard in 1967 for responding to a cross-service emergency refueling request. Upon completion of the aircraft's final flight, 06-0329 was inducted into the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force.
