Kentucky Guard ‘Mountain Warriors’ Complete Annual Training

After five days of intense testing, 13 U.S. Army Soldiers and one Finnish Defense Forces soldier received the Expert Infantryman Badge June 15, 2023, at Fort Barfoot, Virginia. The event was run by the 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and tested Soldiers on their proficiency and skill as infantrymen over the course of five days. Soldiers were tested on physical fitness, day and night land navigation, more than 30 medical, weapons and patrol tasks, and a 12-mile ruck march.
West Virginia Guard Hosts Irregular Warfare Exercise

Members of Charlie Company, 5th Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne); Bravo Company, 92d Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne); Bravo Company, 6th Psychological Operations Battalion (Airborne); 193rd Special Operations Medical Group; 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company; 4th Civil Affairs Group; and the 4th Marine Corps Advisor Company Alpha, participated with allies and partners from multiple nations in the Ridge Runner Irregular Warfare Exercise throughout West Virginia for two weeks in May and June 2023.
Pennsylvania Guard Cavalry Regiment Conducts Rappel Training

Approximately 25 Soldiers with 1st Squadron, 104th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat team, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, conducted rappel training June 13, 2023, at a rock formation near Fort Indiantown Gap. The Soldiers used mountain warfare skills to ascend the north face of the rocks with harnesses and ropes, then rappelled down the south face approximately 100 feet.

The challenging event was hosted by the 402nd Military Police Battalion, with 50 of 90 participants earning the badge — 14 bronze, 27 silver and nine gold.

44th IBCT Builds ‘Generational Readiness’ in JRTC Rotation

Indiana Air Guard Supports Joint Homeland Defense Exercise

The Indiana National Guard Reaction Force, comprising defenders with the 181st Security Forces Squadron and military police with the Indiana Army National Guard, partnered with civilian law enforcement to respond to a simulated riot-based scenario during Homeland Defender 2023 at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, Ind., June 10, 2023. Memorial Honors NY Army Guard Aviators Killed in 2021 Crash

With 45 New York Army National Guard aviation Soldiers in formation, officials of the town of Mendon, New York, unveiled a memorial to three of their fellow members June 11, 2023. The Army Guard aviators died in a helicopter crash in the town on Jan. 20, 2021.
