Vermont skiers dominate Guard biathlon championships

Senior Airman Grant Webber of the Vermont National Guard recovers after finishing the relay race at the 2007 Chief of the National Guard Bureau Biathlon Championships held Feb 18-24 at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, Vt., while coach Travis Voyer looks on. Eighteen states sent teams to the championships with a total of about 60 skiers participating.

Chamberlain, shown in a custom-made camouflage kilt, was part of a Florida Army National Guard team competing in the traditional Scottish games. Although this was Chamberlain's first competition, he finished first in his class for the 56-pound weight throw.

SDNG Engineers continue support to southwest border

South Dakota Army National Guardsmen, supporting the Southwest Border Patrol by participating in Operation Jump Start, are continuing their assigned mission to complete the construction of a 1.5 mile section of road just east of the town of Nogales along the U.S.-Mexico border. Commissioners: Enhance National Guard, homeland defense

Punaro, chairman of the Commission on the National Guard and Reserves, discusses the commission's interim report to the U.S. Congress at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on March 1, 2007. Under Congressional charter, the 13 commissioners are studying the National Defense Enhancement and National Guard Empowerment Act first introduced before Congress last year and reintroduced during the current session. The act could make sweeping changes in how the National Guard does business.
