Ohio National Guard unit prepares for largest overseas deployment since World War II

The 313th Air Expeditionary Wing, which is supporting Operation Unified Protector, was given a nickname Calico Wing by the wing's commander, Brig. Gen. Roy Uptegraff. The 313th AEW operates from an air base in Western Europe. Operation Unified Protector is part of the international response to the unrest in Libya and enforcement of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973 of a no-fly zone over Libya. As of April 14, more than 500 N.D. National Guard Airmen and Soldiers were conducting flood operations in North Dakota, with the vast majority in Cass County.

The tractor is one of the few vehicles light enough and high enough to cross a precarious section of flooded roadway leading to the farmstead without damaging the road.
