Guard Biathlon Team competes in Spain, defends title in Nationals

Four members of the North Dakota National Guard Biathlon Team had the opportunity to compete in Spain at Campeonatos Naceonalis Militares de Esqui, Feb. 28 to March 4. The national military ski championships took place at the Spanish Mountain Warfare School, which is situated in a valley in the Pyrenees Mountains in northern Spain. From left are Sgt. 1st Class Kent Pulst and his son Spc. Brandon Pulst, Spc. Jordan Becker and Lt. Col. David Skalicky. The four join other teammates this week for the Chief of the National Guard Bureau Championships in Vermont.

Soldiers from the Alabama National Guard build  and maintain miles of HESCO barriers to protect Dauphin Island, Ala., beaches  from the BP oil spill on July 23, 2010, during Operation Deepwater Horizon,  which saw more than 1,600 National Guardmembers support civilian authorities in  four Gulf states. The American people have come to expect swift and effective  responses to natural and manmade disasters, the chief of the National Guard  Bureau said Monday.
