Pennsylvania OMLT establishes ANP unit in Ghor Province

KABUL, Afghanistan, - The Police Operations Mentor Liaison Team here in Ghor Province took its first step to achieving its goal of a self-sustaining Afghan National Police unit by hosting a meeting with the Afghan National Police province acting chief of police and director of training, Nov. 25.

The mentoring team is comprised of International Security Assistance Force components, Lithuanian military, Lithuanian Public Security Service and the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. The Pennsylvania Guard and Lithuanian military are joined in the National Guard Bureau's State Partnership Program.

The focus of the team is to coach, teach and mentor the leadership of the Afghan National Police in Ghor province in order to help them develop a professional, effective and self sustaining police force.

The Police Operations Mentor Liaison Team was established by the United States and Lithuania in an effort to intensify support to Afghan security forces in Lithuania's responsibility area, where the majority of national security forces are local police.
