AL ALAMEIN, Egypt — U.S. Air Force Airmen assigned to the Texas Air National Guard, alongside forces from U.S. Air Forces Central, joined international military leaders, civil aviation authorities and defense representatives at Al Alamein International Airport for the Egypt International Airshow 2026.
The Texas National Guard and Egypt have been partners through the Department of War National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program since 2020, strengthening military-to-military relationships, interoperability and cooperation between the two nations.
The multiday exposition serves as a strategic platform to highlight advanced aerospace technology, align operational capabilities and reinforce international commitments to security, stability and prosperity across the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility.
“Airshows and defense expositions like EIAS 26 drive future interconnectedness across our coalition forces,” said U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Joshlin Lewis, special assistant to the adjutant general, Headquarters Texas Air National Guard, Camp Mabry, Austin, Texas. “When allies and partners operate similar platforms and share tactical understanding, it translates directly to enhanced operational readiness and collective air power.”
Throughout the event, Airmen from the 136th Airlift Wing provided static display tours of a C-130J Super Hercules, giving foreign military partners, international delegations and media representatives an up-close look at the tactical airlift platform. The display highlighted how shared systems bolster interoperability and support combined defense architecture across the region.
In addition to aircraft displays, members of the U.S. Air Forces Central Band performed for flight line attendees, while U.S. service members conducted bilateral patch exchanges and professional discussions with international aircrew members. Lewis, U.S. Air Force Col. Kurt Anderson, 136th Airlift Wing commander, and U.S. Air Force Command Chief Master Sgt. Paul McGuirk, Texas Air National Guard command chief, met with regional media outlets, including The Egyptian Gazette, to discuss coalition posture and the enduring U.S. commitment to regional stability.
“Interoperability is the cornerstone of any effective coalition,” Anderson said. “Events of this scale afford our Airmen the opportunity to build direct relationships with host nation personnel and partner forces, ensuring we remain postured and ready as a credible force.”
