CAMP JOSEPH T. ROBINSON, Ark., - The Arkansas National Guard has now deployed a total of 11 water tankers as a result of a downed water system in Van Buren County.
A 5,000-gallon water tanker provided by Camp Robinson’s Institute Support Unit deployed to support the county’s hospital in Clinton yesterday. The 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team deployed an additional four 400-gallon water tankers to the community. The smaller “water buffaloes” were stationed in various locations around the community for use as water distribution points.
The 39th also delivered a single water buffalo each to the communities of Shirley, Alread, Welcome Home, Chimes and Witt Springs. The Guard’s 87th Troop Command also supported the effort with the deployment of a single water buffalo to the community of Tilly in Pope County.
Along with answering these calls for stateside support, the Arkansas National Guard continues to have about 350 Soldiers and Airmen deployed overseas in support of operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo.
