Louisiana Guard delivers oil booms to Amelia

By Sgt. Michael L. Owens Louisiana National Guard

NEW ORLEANS - The Louisiana National Guard's 1084th Transportation Company, 165th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, delivered boom material to Amelia, La., this morning in support of operations related to the oil spill off the coast of Louisiana.

"It is a great thing to be able to help prevent the further deterioration of our coast line," said Sgt. Walter Jackson Jr.

On Friday morning, approximately 30 Guardsmen drove 13 tractor-trailer vehicles to separate Coast Guard stations to pick up booms, which were delivered to St. Mary Parish today.

"They traveled in separate three-vehicle elements and picked up boom from two different locations," said 1st Sgt. Todd M. Marchand, senior enlisted advisor for the 1084th.
