Mantastic Movember, geared to men's health, introduced in November

By Guard Your Health Army National Guard Chief Surgeon's Office

ARLINGTON, Va. - Guard Your Health, a health and medical readiness campaign from the Army National Guard Chief Surgeon's Office, launched the Mantastic Movember campaign this month to increase Soldiers' awareness and knowledge of men's health concerns.

November is a popular month for male-focused health campaigns, encouraging men to grow mustaches or abstain from shaving to raise awareness and understanding of the health risks men face. Guard Your Health is joining the movement a bit differently by sharing tips and resources on how Soldiers can "trim their chances" of illness, injury, and disease.

The Mantastic Movember campaign covers an array of topics, ranging from light-hearted posts about how to pick the perfect sunglasses for the shape of your face, to more serious information on heart disease and prostate cancer. In 10 Mansome Health Habits Every Guy Should Practice, readers learn quick changes they can make to improve their overall health and wellness. Additional information is broken down into four, "Movember Must-Reads" that are packed with resources to help readers dominate their duties as Citizen-Soldiers:

- Mansome Know-How- Learn tips to look your best and dress for success

- Outsmart Illness and Disease - Read about your risks and how to practice prevention

- Safety and Survival - Refresh your memory on these safety tactics

- Fit Body and Mind - Find resources to stay physically ready and mentally sharp for Guard duty

In addition to providing facts and informational pieces, an at-a-glance infographic guides Soldiers through age-appropriate health screenings that go beyond Periodic Health Assessments. Throughout the month, additional tips and articles will be posted on a variety of male-specific health topics to help Citizen-Soldiers to take control of their health and medical readiness.

Guard Your Health, a health and medical readiness campaign for Army National Guard Soldiers and their families, supports the Army National Guard Chief Surgeon's efforts to build and sustain a resilient, adaptable, and medically ready Citizen-Soldier force. Guard Your Health provides Army National Guard Soldiers with the information, motivation, and support they need to overcome challenges and make healthy decisions for themselves, their units, and their families.
