California Guard bridge company crafts water crossing to fight fires

Members of the 132nd Multirole Bridge Company (MRBC), California Army National Guard, maneuver a bay across the Cache Creek River Aug. 7, 2015 in Yolo County, California. The California National Guardsmen were called upon to upstage a floating bridge in the Cache Creek National Park to allow CAL FIRE easier access to battle the Rocky Fire.

California National Guard Soldiers from the 578th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 79th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, from Manhattan Beach,  and the 1st Squadron, 18th Cavalry, 79th IBCT, from Azusa, practice wildfire hand crew techniques with instructors from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) at Camp Roberts, Aug. 4, 2015. This was the final phase of a three-day training event preparing the Soldiers to participate in fire fighting efforts in northern California.

Military and civilian first responders partner in Oregon's Pathfinder-Minuteman exercise

First responders assist and prepare a victim for transport during Pathfinder-Minutemen Exercise, Aug. 5, 2015 at Camp Rilea in Warrenton, Oregon. The event is a joint multi-agency, multi-state disaster preparedness exercise based on response to a possible Cascadia Subduction Zone event. Officials believe the Northwest is overdue for a magnitude 7.0 or greater earthquake.

Oregon Army National Guard pilots, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Dennis Cooper, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Logan Bass, and crew chief Spc. Beth Bechard, with Charlie Company, 7-158th Aviation, navigate through smoke on the way to their drop site in support of firefighting ground crews, Aug. 5, at the Stouts Fire. The Black Hawk helicopter is equipped with a "Bambi bucket" which carries approximately 500 gallons of water. Two Oregon Army National Guard HH-60M Black Hawk helicopters have been working out of the Roseburg Municipal Airport since Monday to support ground firefighting crews and have been joined by one Oregon Army National Guard CH-47 Chinook helicopter based out Pendleton, Oregon.

If Soldiers were still unsure of what bad behavior looks like online, the Army clarified it for them in an "All Army Activities" message that went out force-wide last week. Online misconduct, it says, is "the use of electronic communication to inflict harm.
