Civil engineers provide clean water for storm stricken Arkansas town

Technical Sgt. Brian Sutton, a utilities systems management specialist with the 188th Fighter Wing's Civil Engineering Squadron of the Arkansas Air National Guard, connects a supply hose to a water purification unit that will output purified water to support the water needs of the 1,230 residents of Dierks, Ark. The community's only water treatment facility was heavily damaged by a tornado on April 9, 2009.

Children at the 2009 Easter Egg Roll held on the South Lawn of the White House were given a souvenir Easter egg. This year's egg is the greenest egg in history, according to the White House Web site. It is made from hardwood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, which means that the wood comes from environmentally and socially sustainably managed forests.

National Guard program helped countries to NATO membership

Oketa's visit coincides with the 15th anniversary of his nation's participation in the State Partnership Program with the New Jersey National Guard. This week, Albania achieved its long-standing goal of membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

Guard's disaster response missions grew nationwide today

A once proud Oak tree stands stripped of its foliage and wrapped in debris from the devastated town of Mena, Ark. A powerful tornado ripped through the community of 5,700 the evening of April 10. A contingent of 30 members of the Arkansas Army National Guard's 39th Infantry Brigade Combat Team entered the town shortly after the tornado passed and began providing assistance. More troops poured in the next morning to begin search and rescue operations, and to provide security.

Truax hosts joint 'suspicious' package exercise
