U.S. Marines fire M4 carbines and M18 service pistols during a shooting competition at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Aug. 27, 2024. Shooting competitions provide a controlled environment for units to test their precision and accuracy under pressure to ensure they remain prepared for real-world contingencies and offers an opportunity for units to benchmark their capabilities against other teams to encourage continuous improvement and excellence.
