The Washington Army National Guard conducted a retirement ceremony for Command Sgt. Maj. Bruce Ecclestone on Sept. 8, 2024 at Camp Murray, WA. The ceremony was an opportunity to honor Command Sgt. Maj. Ecclestone’s dedication and service to the state and nation for the past 38 years. The National Anthem was sung by Sgt. Tricia Scheer from the 133d Washington Army National Guard Band and the invocation was given by Maj. Andrew Paulson, the 81st SBCT Brigade Chaplain. The presiding official for the ceremony was retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Bret Daugherty. Retired Maj. Gen. Daugherty described Command Sgt. Maj. Ecclestone as someone who is an amazingly great NCO, an outstanding leader and a trusted friend to those who serve in the Washington National Guard. Command Sgt. Maj. Ecclestone was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for conspicuously distinguished service to the Washington Army National Guard and the United States Army for 38 years of service. Command Sgt. Maj. Ecclestone’s wife and children were presented with the Washington State Commander’s Award for Guardsman support to show appreciation of their unwavering and unconditional support to their husband and father who served the state and nation. Retired Command Sgt. Maj. Ecclestone continues to serve as the director of the Joint Service Support Center, providing support and care for the service members and families of Washington state.
