Texas National Guard Boat Operators Deter Illegal Immigration at Shelby Park, Texas
Joint Task Force Lone Star
Feb. 28, 2024 | 1:42
Sgt. Armando De Santiago, a boat team leader describes the capabilities and purpose of the boat teams that patrol the Rio Grande River at Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, TX, Jan 30, 2024. The boat teams have been a vital asset to Operation Lone Star since its beginning in 2021, and they successfully deter illegal immigration into Texas on a daily basis. The team members act as a highly mobile patrolling force to detect and deter illegal traffic, but also as a rescue team to safely interdict illegal immigrants who they catch trying to cross the border illegally.
