2026 Arizona Army National Guard Best Warrior Competition
123rd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment
Feb. 12, 2026 | 2:18
The final event of the Arizona Army National Guard (AZ ARNG) Best Warrior Competition (BWC) was an urban ruck march in the early morning of Feb. 12. The competitors had three hours to complete 12 miles carrying at least 35 pounds in their ruck sacks. The route would begin at Sloan Park in Mesa and follow the Rio Salado Pathway through Tempe to Arizona State Route 143, and back. This urban ruck march measured the physical endurance, strength, mental toughness, and will of each competitor.

The AZ ARNG Best Warrior Competition measured the skills of each competitor's physical fitness, physical and mental toughness, resilience, and ensured the Soldiers of the AZ ARNG are ready to expertly assume their role as the primary combat reserve of the United States Army, anytime, anywhere.
