(ALONG THE U.S.-MEXICO BORDER, NEAR YUMA, ARIZ.) Aug. 10, 2006 A Kentucky National Guard Soldier welds together steel support beams being used to erect a fence along the U.S. Mexico border, south of Yuma, Ariz. The Kentucky National Guard is working in support of Operation Jump Start, a mission ordered by President George W. Bush in which the National Guard is working with the U.S. Border Patrol to bolster security along the nation's border. Because of the high heat conditions in southwestern Arizona, portions of the fence construction work are being conducted at night. (U.S. Air Force photo by Master Sgt. Neil Fogg.)
