Soldiers and airmen from the Washington National Guard are manning a series of observation posts along the U.S. Mexico border as part of Operation Jump Start. Under the Operation, National Guardsmen and women from around the nation are working with the U.S. Border Patrol to provide an extra set of eyes and ears along the border, reporting potential border crossers or other suspicious activity to Border Patrol agents who make apprehensions and perform any other necessary law enforcement duties. The Kentucky National Guard is working in support of Operation Jump Start, a mission ordered by President George W. Bush in which the National Guard is working with the U.S. Border Patrol to bolster security along the nation's border. Soldiers and airmen from the Washington National Guard are manning a series of observation posts along the U.S.-Mexico border as part of Operation Jump Start. Under the Operation, National Guard Soldiers and airmen from around the nation are working with the U.S. Border Patrol to help secure the nation's southern border.
