The West Virginia National Guard has been selected as the U.S. partner to the nation of Gabon in central Africa for the Department of Defense National Guard Bureau State Partnership Program, Gov. Jim Justice announced March 6. Gabon is the 19th African nation to join with a U.S. state via the SPP.

WVNG joins SPP partner Qatar in virtual exercise

Members of the West Virginia National Guard recently participated in a virtual seminar with members of the Qatari Emiri Land Forces (QELF) as a part of the Eastern Action joint operations staff exercise between elements of the Qatari military and the United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) Operation Spartan Shield and Task Force Spartan. Since 2018, the WVNG has worked closely with Qatar as part of the National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program.
