Virginia Guard Returns From Federal Active Duty in Iraq, Kuwait

The first groups of the Virginia National Guard’s Virginia Beach-based 329th Regional Support Group Headquarters return to Norfolk, Virginia, June 17, 2022, and reunite with loved ones, after supporting Operation Inherent Resolve at multiple locations Oct. 7, 2021, to June 6, 2022. The 329th’s mission was to provide mission command and base life support to Al Asad Air Base, Erbil Air Base and Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center in Iraq and Camp Arifjan, Kuwait.

Wisconsin Air Guard unit deploying for Inherent Resolve

Chief Master Sgt. Meredith Conn, the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s state command chief, addresses about 90 members of the 128th Air Control Squadron during a formal send-off ceremony March 29, 2022, at Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center. The squadron will deploy for six months in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and the Combined Defense of the Arabian Peninsula, providing air surveillance, aircraft tracking and overall command and control of coalition tactical aircraft operations.

A U.S. Army AH-64 Apache attack helicopter from Task Force Wolfpack, 1st Attack Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, flies over northern Iraq. Wolfpack's highly lethal Apaches serve as air weapons teams on 24-hour alert. They also provide overwatch during ground operations, convoy escort and reconnaissance in support of base defense.
