New York Airmen Complete Brazilian Jungle Warfare Course

U.S. Air National Guard Tech. Sgt. Gerardo Balsa and Staff Sgt. Balsa and Cozart are two of only 50 American military members to complete the course since it was established in 1964 to develop an operational unit that could use the Amazon jungle environment to its advantage.

New York Firemen to Represent Guard at Jungle Warfare School

Army Sgt. William Dunn, left, a member of the 101st Expeditionary Signal Battalion, and Air Force Tech Sgt. Jeremy Miter, assigned to the 274th Air Operations Support Squadron, will represent the New York National Guard and the U.S. military at the annual international course taught at the Brazilian military's jungle warfare training school in Manas, Brazil. The New York National Guard has sent Soldiers and Airmen to the school since 2019 as part of a State Partnership Program agreement with Brazil's armed forces.
