Hawaii, Alaska ANG practice rescue capabilities

A cargo bundle is airdropped from a Hawaii Air National Guard C-17 Globemaster III during training Jan. 14, 2021, at the Kahuku, Hawaii. The drop was part of exercise H20, focusing on interoperability between Hawaii and Alaska Air National Guard units responsible for contingency astronaut rescue for NASA’s SpaceX Commercial Crew Program.

Hawaii Air National Guard Airmen load equipment onto a C-17 Globemaster III, May 26, 2020, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam to be able to quickly respond to astronaut rescue in the Pacific region in support of the launch of two American astronauts from Kennedy Space Center in Florida May 30. The rocket launch was part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program with SpaceX and Boeing.
