The New Mexico National Guard Community Emergency Response Team helps with flood recovery operations around Roswell Oct. 20, 2024, checking submerged vehicles for anyone who might need help. The Guard has helped rescue over 300 people from the extreme flooding.

Jason Saavedra is a 21-year veteran of the National Guard. Shaw, a 17-year-old high school senior, enlisted in the Guard at the end of his junior year.
