Western Air Defense Sector Gets New Training Facility

The Continental North American Aerospace Defense Command Region deputy commander, Royal Canadian Air Force Maj. Gen. Sean Boyle, center-right, and the Washington Air National Guard commander, U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Gent Welsh center-left, cut the ribbon on the Western Air Defense Sector’s new Mission Training Center with WADS leadership Oct. 5, 2023, on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. The $2 million state-of-the-art facility provides high-end simulation capabilities for Airmen who manage and operate Command and Control Battle Management Systems in defense of the U.S. homeland under Operation NOBLE EAGLE.

Western Air Defense Sector Conducts Exercise at Oregon Beach

Three members of the Western Air Defense Sector's 225th Air Defense Squadron tested the ability to execute cloud based command and control in a geographically separated location at Camp Rilea, Oregon, April 25, 2023. The WADS air battle managers, 1st Lt. Aaron DeCremer and 2nd Lt. Tyler Shoemaker, conducted a practice scramble of two F-15 fighter aircraft from the Oregon Air National Guard's 142nd Fighter Wing as part of exercise Felix Ace.

WADS Airman sews 150 masks for Alabama hospital workers

U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Rachel Yandon, a radio frequency transmission systems apprentice assigned to the 225th Support Squadron, Washington Air National Guard, wears a face mask like the ones she donated to mission essential personnel of the Western Air Defense Sector May 7, 2020.  Yandon also sewed and donated 150 masks to an Alabama hospital.
