National Guard Soldiers, Ugandans participate in Atlas Drop 11

Ugandan  Defense Forces Soldiers, assisted by Army Staff Sgt. Ian Eggbert, a rigger with 197th Special Troops Company, Utah Army National Guard, attach a wing to a copter box aerial delivery system at Soroti Airfield, Uganda, during Atlas Drop 11, April 14, 2011. Atlas Drop, an annual joint aerial-delivery exercise sponsored by U.S. Army Africa that brings together U.S. Army personnel with counterparts from the Ugandan Peoples Defense Forces, is designed to enhance the readiness of both countries’ resupply and logistical capabilities, and will consist of classroom instruction and a field training exercise.

Kentucky Guard donates 3,500 evergreens in Afghanistan

The Kentucky Agribusiness Development Team II donated 3,500 evergreen
saplings, which were distributed to the six Panjshir districts and one
municipality.

Massachusetts Guardsman remembered for selfless service
April 11, 2011
Army Spc. Dennis C. Poulin of Pawtucket, R.I., was a gunner with the
Massachusetts National Guard's Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 181st Division
assigned to the Kunar Provincial Reconstruction Team. Poulin died March 31,
2011, as a result of injuries suffered from a vehicle accident while
conducting a mounted combat patrol near Chowkay, Afghanistan.

New Mexico National Guard takes charge of diverse mission in Kosovo
April 7, 2011
U.S. Army Soldiers from the 111th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade of the New
Mexico National Guard, aided by troops from Ukraine, France and Greece,
present the national and brigade colors during the transition of authority
ceremony between KFOR-13 and KFOR-14 at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo, April 2,
2011. The 92nd MEB had been providing safey and security in Kosovo since
they took over the mission in July.
