U.S. Army Sgt. Anthony Eplee of the 1/178 Field Artillery of the South Carolina Army National Guard cleans his weapon at Forward Operating Base Salerno, April 30, 2010. Eplee is a member of the security force element for the Paktika Provincial Reconstruction Team and is currently working as a liaison between the brigade and PRT commanders. Paktika PRT is a joint team whose mission is to help legitimize the government of Afghanistan through development, governance and agricultural initiatives.

Louisiana Guardsman earns award for valor

The 2nd Battalion, 156th Infantry Regiment Commander Lt. Col. Eric "Clay" Rivers awards Sgt. 1st Class Timothy Champagne with an Army Commendation Medal with V device five years after the fact for his actions, March 10, 2005, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III, as Battalion Command Sgt. Maj. Sud Robertson witnesses. The 2-156th is currently deployed with the Louisiana National Guard's 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team to set the conditions for the responsible drawdown of U.S. armed forces and equipment in Iraq.
