Air Force names outstanding ANG units

ARLINGTON, Va., - Air Force officials have announced the 2009 United States Air Force unit awards, naming 40 units among the Air Force's best in two categories.

Units were awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award.

The winners are as follows:

Awards elements, including certificates, citations and streamers, will be mailed to the state headquarters for presentation.

All people assigned or attached to an identified organization for at least one day during the period for which a unit award was awarded, and who directly contributed to the mission and accomplishments of the unit, are authorized to wear the appropriate award ribbon on their uniforms.

The Special Recognitions Branch at the Air Force Personnel Center here will update the award database by March 1 to reflect the winning organizations and approved subordinate units.
