National Guard Bureau chief Lengyel issues holiday greeting

By Air Force Gen. Joseph Lengyel National Guard Bureau

ARLINGTON, Va. - As we celebrate this holiday season and look forward to 2017, I extend my warmest greetings, deep gratitude and best wishes to you and your families.

In my first four months, I've witnessed Guardsmen from around the 54 continue to perform amazingly. Whether it's serving in distant countries overseas, or working in our states and communities here at home, each and every one of you continue to answer the call.

You and I cannot serve without the support of our family members, friends, and employers who serve as the backbone of our National Guard. During this holiday season, let us thank them for their support and for enabling us to continue to serve.

As you enjoy the holidays, please stay safe and watch out for your Battle Buddy and Wingman. This is truly a team effort and each of you are important to what we do, so we need you to remain safe.

Thank you for supporting and protecting our nation. Sally and I wish you and your family a joyful and festive holiday season and a safe and happy 2017!

"Always Ready, Always There!"
