Guard Your Health’s #WarriorReady Challenge launches April 1

By Guard Your Health, Army National Guard Chief Surgeon's Office

ARLINGTON, Va. - Army Physical Fitness Test season is upon us, which means now is the perfect time to amp up your training.

Guard Your Health, a health and medical readiness campaign for Guard Soldiers and their families, is launching a 30-day #WarriorReady Challenge to make it easy for Soldiers and families to get fit and stay mission ready.

From April 1-30, a daily recipe, workout, or health tip will be revealed so warriors, their families, and entire units can start making lasting, healthy lifestyle changes.

"Fitness and nutrition are vital components of mission readiness," says Maj. Dariusz Mydlarz, Army National Guard Chief of Preventive Medicine. "By taking the #WarriorReady Challenge, Soldiers will get daily reminders to eat healthy and exercise. We hope this motivates Soldiers to lead healthier lives long after the Challenge ends."

All of the daily challenges include tips to stay mission ready, such as doing a quick #WarriorReady Workout or cooking a healthy meal from the #ClassIRecipes series. The workout videos feature a total-body workout with suggested timing for each exercise that can be adapted based on fitness level. The exercises do not require any equipment and can be done anywhere. The recipes are easy to make and only require a few ingredients, so anyone can whip up a healthy meal to fuel up before or after a workout.

Take the Challenge by visiting the #WarriorReady Challenge Web page and clicking "Accept Challenge." Then, sign up for text message reminders by texting WARRIOR to 703-997-6747*. Encourage others to join and share your progress throughout the Challenge by posting photos to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Tag posts with #WarriorReady and mention @GuardYourHealth for a chance to be featured on the campaign’s social media pages.
