Roy: Guard members should tell their story

By Air National Guard Tech. Sgt. John Orrell National Guard Bureau

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Air National Guard is in the fight and it is up to each and every Guard member to tell their story to their families, employers and fellow service members, the chief master sergeant of the Air Force said here today.

"You are guardians of freedom and it is very important that you tell your story while at home or away," said Chief Master Sgt. James Roy.

Roy, who sent a pre-recorded video to the Air National Guard's 2011 Enlisted Leadership Symposium, spoke about the Air Guard's role in the global fight and how Guard members should be taking advantage of their positions within the community to spread the word about the Guard.

"As Guardsmen, I salute your unique dual-mission role. And we [should all] share this with your neighbors and elected officials," he said.

"This is especially true for our Air Force and for our nation during these fiscally trying times."

"Budgets are constrained, and we must leverage efficiencies to ensure we continue to have the finest Air Force in the world."

Roy, who is the 16th chief master sergeant of the Air Force, represents the highest enlisted level of leadership within the Air Force, to include the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserves.
